Amateur Radio
Suitable for all age groups. Hinckley District Scout Council has its own Amateur Radio Club which runs for various camps during the year. The group are also available for booking privately, running out of the Leaders room in the Wilson Building. Suitable for all ages. Archery
Suitable for all age groups, a full working Archery Range with a covered sitting area and arching canopy for us in wet weather. This activity is suitable for Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Leaders. It is also available for private bookings subject to Insurance cover. Boulders (Free)
Suitable for all age groups, a small collection of rocks suitable for climbing play. Children are encouraged to move from rock to rock trying to avoid touching the ground. Upper body strength is required as is teamwork.
Campfire Circle (Free)
Suitable for all age groups. The campfire circle has traditionally been a gathering place for visitors to the campsite to share fond memories, sing, and tell humorous stories about their "camp" experiences. The circle can seat around 300 members and has a separate fire and performing area.
Climbing Tower
Suitable for all age groups, a fully equipped Climbing Tower and Abseiling Wall suitable for all age groups. Try your hand at scaling the small wall first and if you feel confident enough have a go at the larger wall.
Crate Stacking
Suitable for all age groups, a high level individual and team activity which promotes team support, communication and problem solving. Crate stacking is a great activity for team building - not only does everyone has to work together; they have to think together too!
Frisbee Golf
Suitable for all age groups, frisbee Golf, also known as "disc golf" is a sport that can be played either competitively or for recreational purposes. To play Frisbee golf, a player will aim a type of disc similar to a Frisbee at various targets. Similar to traditional golf, the player will keep track of how many attempts it takes to get the disc into the target basket; the player who takes the fewest throws will be the winner.
Gold Panning
Suitable for all age groups, Gold Panning, is simply panning, is the process of extracting gold from a placer deposit using a pan. At the campsite this is facilitated by large wooden boxes which hold water and sand. Look-alike Gold Nuggets are placed in the sand and you simply pan for gold.
Low Ropes
A very demanding Low Ropes Course suitable for older Cub Scouts age and upwards.A series of cables, ropes, and obstacles strung between trees or poles, 12 to 18 inches above the ground, low rope elements present tests of physical strength, stamina, agility, balance, and flexibility, and invite participants to confront such emotional issues as the fear of falling, the fear of failure, and the fear of losing control. Risk is managed by group members who assume critical spotting roles.
Orienteering
Suitable for all age groups,Orienteering requires navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain. Participants are given a map, usually a specially prepared orienteering map, which they use to find control points.
Parachute
Suitable for all age groups, parachute games encourage cooperative, non-competitive play and reinforce turn-taking and sharing. The games are a lot of fun for both children and adults and allow us to share learning experiience.
Pioneering
Suitable for all age groups, pioneering is the art of using ropes and wooden spars joined by lashings and knots to create a structure. Pioneering is used to teach practical skills, teamwork and problem solving. Pioneering skills include Knot tying (tying ropes together), lashing (tying spars together with rope), whipping (binding the end of a rope with thin twine), splicing, and skills related to the use, care and storage of ropes, spars and related pioneering equipment.
Shooting

Spiders Web
Suitable for all age groups. The spider's web is a variety of ropes strung between poles, which resemble a spider's web. The group starts on one side of the “web,” and must successfully reach the other side without touching any of the “strands of the web.” Each hole may only be used once. A spider placed on the web somewhere will watch over you, if it falls the group must start over.
Sumo Suits
Suitable for all age groups. For thousands of years the noble art of Sumo Wrestling has been practiced in Japan. For years candidates slave and sweat under the vigilant tuition of their stable master. With a combination of speed, dexterity, a high level of balance and above all a sense of humility, Sumo wrestlers can rise to fame and fortune. Now you too can experience the roar of the crowd (or perhaps in this case laughter) with this ludicrously funny activity. No years of training, no binge eating, just step in and inflate, and in a matter of seconds you'll attain the bulk and stature of mighty warrior - kind of. Team Building
Team building exercises consist of a variety of tasks designed to develop group members and their ability to work together effectively. There are many types of team building activities that range from kids games to games that involve novel complex tasks and are designed for specific needs. There are also more complex team building exercises that are composed of multiple exercises such as ropes courses, corporate drumming and exercises that last over several days. The purpose of team building exercises is to assist teams in becoming cohesive units of individuals that can effectively work together to complete tasks. Traverse Wall (Bouldering)
Suitable for all age groups. Bouldering is a style of climbing emphasizing power, strength, and dynamics. Its focus is on individual moves or short sequences of moves, unlike traditional climbing or sport climbing, which generally demand more endurance over longer stretches of rock where the difficulty of individual moves is not as great. Boulder routes are commonly referred to as problems (a British appellation) because the nature of the climb is often short, curious, and much like problem solving. Sometimes these problems are eliminates, meaning certain artificial restrictions are imposed. Bouldering is more focused on the technique of climbing instead of undertaking a full bodied climb.
Trim Trail
Suitable for Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts. The Trim Trail, offers an exciting physical and mental challenge for children, presenting different challenges for children of all ages and ability levels.
Enabling children to get active, the Trim Trail allows for cognitive and imaginary play. The Trail has been designed with safety as a priority Providing high-energy challenges. Develops co-ordination skills. Exercise while having fun.
Water Activities (Off Site)
Suitable for Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders. Hinckley District Scout Council has the use by prior arrangement of a local water facility. Various water activities can be arranged at this site, including, canoeing, rafting and sailing. The campsite is also close to the Bosworth Water park which offers a wide range of water activities with its own instructors.
