Fox Coverts Scout Campsite

  The campsite covers an area of 14.5 acres of beautiful woodland. There is a choice of secluded sites in wooded glades to suit both group camps and patrol camps . Whether you want a full, fast weekend activity camp or a week camp with activities, Fox Coverts has enough to keep you challenged and occupied.
  Areas of Fox Coverts are quiet and secluded enough to enjoy backwoods camping. There is a plentiful supply of natural wood lying on the ground for open fire cooking and there is plenty of canopy to erect a bivouac. There is usually a plentiful supply of wood on the woodpile.
  Fox Coverts is a nature lover’s paradise. The woods and paddock are full of exciting flowers, trees, berries, nuts, birds and animals to discover. During Springtime the woodland is carpeted in bluebells. In autumn there are blackberries, sloes, horse chestnuts, sweet chestnuts, hazelnuts and many species of toadstools to be found.
  English native trees make up Fox Coverts; hornbeam, oak, silver birch, hazel, chestnut, horse chestnut, mountain ash, fir and a variety of shrubs and native trees. Birds including blue tits, great tits, chaffinches, green woodpeckers, spotted woodpeckers, little owls, magpies, tree creepers, robins and nuthatches can be spotted throughout the site. Rabbits and squirrels are plainly in evidence, but occasionally, to the trained eye, there are also badgers, muntjac deer, bats, foxes, and the dormouse to be discovered.
